Is that a good idea, really? A vet discusses flying with Fido below. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Think It Over <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Dogs can experience high stress levels when flying. Since Fido doesn\u2019t really understand how flying in a plane works, he can get very scared by the vibration and noise. Your canine pal may be happier and more comfortable being boarded. Something else you may want to consider is size. Small dogs that can fit in your lap will likely have a much easier time than big dogs that have to fly in cargo. Ask your vet for recommendations. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Have Paperwork <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> You\u2019ll want to bring copies of Fido\u2019s vaccination and registration records with you. Paper copies can easily fit in your flight bag, but it\u2019s also smart to take pictures of them and email them to yourself. That way you can access them online from anywhere, since you\u2019ll have them in both your phone gallery and inbox. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Go Direct <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Direct flights are less stressful for your furry buddy, though they may cost a bit more. Avoid layovers, if you can. If that\u2019s not possible, book the flight with the shortest stops. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Do Some Research <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Pet travel policies can vary widely between the different airlines. You\u2019ll definitely want to read the fine print in this area! Remember too that some airlines will have better safety records for pet travel than others. Do some reading before you book your flight. Also be sure to ask your vet about medication options that can help calm Fido and make the trip easier on him. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Food <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Fido\u2019s usual food and treats may not be available for purchase at your destination. Consider shipping some to your destination. And of course, you\u2019ll need to coordinate with them or use a mail store if you\u2019re staying at a hotel or AirBnB. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<h2> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> ID <\/span> <\/h2>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Don\u2019t forget to make sure your pooch has been microchipped, and that his registry information is up to date. Fido should also be wearing ID tags. And if he\u2019ll be traveling in a crate, be sure to put an ID on that as well. Both mailing labels and luggage tags work well for this. You can also put some clear tape over a mailing label to make it waterproof. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p> <\/p>\n<p> <span style=\"display: initial;\"> Happy Holidays!
